Yesterday, sprinting back to my house after realizing I had forgotten something, I met Manuel. He was hanging out on my street, leaning on his large rusty pipe like a walking staff, and leisurely sifting through cardboard boxes (there is no recycling system for cardboard in Chile).
I couldn't resist trying to talk to him. Manuel has lived in Valparaiso for his entire life, and though he has not left, he can't imagine a better place to be.
A really friendly guy, and a really enormous hat.

If you are interested in really great "found-people" photos like this, you should definitely check out the blog of my friend Foster.
